Why Chi Phi?
Why the Chi Phi Fraternity? Why make the investment and potentially support the decision for your son to be a member of the Chi Phi family? The answer lies simply within the question. We are a family, and even deeper, a brotherhood that strives for excellence and molds its members into even better men than when they first stepped on campus.

At Georgia Southwestern State University, the Chi Phi Man is one who takes the reins of leadership through most facets of campus life including the Office of Admissions, Residence Life, the O'Team, Zephyrs, and Student Government. The Chi Phi Man is one who takes pride in his academic endeavors, consistently living up to the fraternity standard of maintaining the highest grade point average among all fraternities. The Chi Phi Man is one who defies the common negative expectations of the typical fraternity boy people are used to seeing in the media. We portray ourselves as a group of individuals who support one another in moments of triumph and failure. We are a group of men who embrace the difference in ourselves and view the individuality as an asset that makes us stronger and more connected. We are a family who builds each other up, is always willing to converse with one another on basically anything, and is ultimately like the home away from home for any brother. The Chi Phi brotherhood is one that has to be experienced and a decision that will completely benefit its members for not just four years, but the rest of their lives.

An alumnus brother said it best, “Where is Brotherhood? Where is the unity that binds us? And where is that special place in your heart where all your Brothers are held dear? It’s nowhere – it’s kind of a question of faith in something, a belief which cannot be materialized […] No one can take that unity away.” Even until the end of time, the unity among Chi Phi brothers is felt and never forgotten. We, as a Brotherhood, hope that your son makes the decision to experience such a unity and bond that will last a lifetime.     -Br. Edmund Smith
